To create a space rooted in respect, love, and cultural unity - providing accessible tools for learning, healthy recreation, and the preservation of our cultural heritage.
This project was born from the need to create free and safe spaces for learning and healthy recreation for the members of our community.
As a Community Library, we will offer access to books, computers, classes, workshops, tutoring, book clubs, and more - all within a safe, fresh, and accessible space located in the center of town. The Library is led by a Community Commission made up of local residents: Mar Solano Martinez, Sonia Rodriguez Brown, Jennifer Monge Forbes, Ailana Gaggstatter, Jonathan Walter Lewis, and Johnny Leon Guido.
We are supported by the Integral Development Association (ADI) of Puerto Viejo and have been granted a physical space next to the Casa de la Cultura, right in the town center and facing the public street.
Our purpose is to contribute to a resilient community that maintains its culture and identity, and that we continue working together to create spaces that make this possible.
